... is made out of magnesium. The original construction and restoration must have been insanely labor intensive.

The chasis is original I think, but they had to resculpt the entire body.
Either way, an incredible amount of dedication and craftsmanship went into it.

They talked about this on Jay Leno's YouTube channel once. The restoration was pretty much an entirely new build of the magnesium body.
Just don't light a cigarette in the car. Magnesium really likes to burn. Like REALLY likes to.

I just watched his video about it.
Magnesium burns at 1100 degrees, but they had to shape the body at 800. They were 300 degrees away from burning this thing into oblivion but they pulled it off.

I followed this car's build. The Guild of Automotive Restorers in Bradford, Ontario did the work. They caught parts on fire a couple times trying to TIG weld. One fellow even tried to put the fire out with water....
No doubt that it's a masterpiece.
